This weekend was basically all about the Olympics. So the only real interesting thing that happened was our neighborhood party. Yah...Lyn thought it was about time for us to make an appearance. Though I didn't want to cause I was big, pregnant and uncomfortable...but I couldn't possibly make him go by himself.
This party consisted mainly of our immediate neighbors - around our cul de sac and the greenbelt lots (meaning $$). Demographic: High tech husbands, housewives, and kids between ages 1-5. How interesting...it seems like we would fit right in. And amazingly at the end of the evening, we did...what a relief!!! We actually really, really like our neighbors. They are fabulous and cool, not pretentious and snobby like I had thought. They are cultured, have great taste, and still maintain a certain youthful quality...meaning, yes, they own game systems and set up TV rooms just for that purpose...haha. Some men never grow up.
There was this family of French/Americans from Silicon Valley that moved to Austin for better quality of living. He wanted to work less and hang with his wife and kids. He lives in one of the greenbelt houses and works from home, so he's with his family all day long. He even had time to paint his 5 year old son's room and hang airplanes from the ceiling before his son got back from his summer vacation in France yesterday. Goodness! He said he loves Austin cause when he visited and saw the lakes and hills, it reminded him of living in the South of France. Aight dude...I wouldn't go that far! Haha. We really like this guy, I am hoping that he can hook Lyn up in the future if I ever get him to leave CSC. Make money and work from home? Shiiit...can't ask for more!
All our other neighbors are real interesting too...but that'd be too long of an entry to talk about them all...
But just one more...on the opposite spectrum, we also met a couple, which we have now named: the Hummer couple. They got a 2 year old girl but they sure didn't look or act like it. It was the typical husband in sales and wife, the Dallas blonde. I tolerated some conversation with them, but I was eager to run. She wasn't exactly the type I'd swap recipes with. She was one of those ladies that got pregnant and gained just the weight of the baby and still complain about it. LOL.
Anyways...it was great to finally meet some people. The hubbies now want to start a neighborhood poker game and the wives have to host them. Didn't seem like any other wives were interested in playing so I didn't want to be the black sheep. So I'll behave and be a good housewife and serve food.
Olympics: I think NBC is doing a poor ass job. Everything is on delay. I go to the computer and accidentally find out who wins. What's up with that? How can it be broadcasting 24/7 on all these channels and I can't get a live swim event. And what's up with this HD thing? 2 hour segment reruns of events done a day ago. SUCKS! I really really wanted to watch the Hansen and Kitjima race. Damn NBC!
Can I get a hook-up too?...Tommie would die if she could be just stay at home with Isabel and I could work from home...pretty please... :-D

Dude, our other neighbor 2 houses down is ALSO from Cali and works from home and hang with his wife and baby girl all day...everyday. Where are these jobs? Anyhoo...my plan is to figure all of them out and do some serious sucking up in the process! Haha. Everyone we know moved away, it's about time someone moved back to Austin!
